I found what I thought was an answer to my problem on your site regarding this app freezing afetr a few minutes play. It said to trash user0.logfile from the Hoyle folder and disable animations and sound. I did all these and my game still freezes on my iBook which does not have 9.2 installed, wheras it does not on my iMac, which does have 9.2 installed. Both have Tiger, 10.4.1 installed. Any answer to this puzzle would be appreciated. Should I install 9.2 on the iBook, perhaps?

Kate,
The Hoyle games need OS 9 installed in order for the game to run as it is an OS 9 program.
Depending on the exact model of your iBook will determine if OS 9 can be installed. If you bought your iBook after October, 2003 you may not be able to install OS 9 and it will not start up with OS 9.
You can try to install OS 9. Make sure the power adaptor is plugged into the iBook and a power source. Make sure the OS 9 CD is a full install and does not have any reference to a specific model (like your iMac).
Start up with the OS 9 CD and see if you can install. The install will not touch OS X, your applications or home folder. The iBook needs OS 9 Drivers. If this was not installed, you may have trouble starting up or installing OS 9. If that is the case, you are limited to playing the game on the iMac.

Thanks for your help. But why did it work OK with Panther on the iBook?

Kate,
When you upgraded and installed Tiger, did you do a clean install? If that was the case, the OS 9 System Folder was deleted.
Do you have OS 9 installed now, Does Hoyle work now?

Thanks Cheryl. OS 9 was never installed on the iBook, Hoyle worked under Classic on Panther, which is why I was suprised when I started having problems under Tiger. I haven't had time to try installing 9 on the iBook, so I'm not sure, yet, what will happen. I'll keep you posted, and thanks, again, for your help.

Kate,
Does any other Classic program work?
Go to Hard Drive>System (with the X on the folder icon)>Library>Classic. Trash any file that is in there.
Go to Hoyle Board Games and trash the Hoyle Board Games 4.prf file.
Now give it a try.
