I tried to install my Powerbook G4 to an HP LaserJet 1015 via IP Printing, but was unable to. I'm running Mac OS 10.4. The problem is that even after running HP's software (downloaded from their website), that specific model does not apear in the printer list. The list shows: Laserjet 1200, 1220, 1300, 1320...3380, but doesn't show Laserjet 1015.
I've tried calling HP support. They said they do not have the driver file to send me. They said that it may be on the CD that came with the printer. I no longer have that CD.
What do you suppose I could do?
The only Tiger driver that is available for the 1015 is included as a native driver with Tiger. Your printer, as is the case with some low end laser printers, seems to only have a driver for use with USB, although it might work with the correct JetDirect network printer adapter.
HP was accurate when they said they do not have a driver. HP provided that to Apple for Tiger.
The answer I don't know: Can you get the LaserJet 1015 to work with OS X and a JetDirect box? HP should know the answer to that one, or use it through a USB connection.

Yeah. Thanks. I did manage to use it directly connected through a USB cable, and it worked fine, even simultaneously with PC's connected to it via IP Printing. Problem is that it is now away from my desk.
Do you think it'll work with an Airport Extreme connected to the printer through USB?
Probably work with Airport extreme, but you would have to test it. Not all USB printers can be used with the Airport Extreme. The Wireless functionality has to be a part of the printer driver.
