Description:
Hello,

I was wondering if you might be able to point me in the right direction.

I need to find out how to create a password protected page on a web site.
The user would need to input a password number to proceed. If the password number is incorrect then the next screen would show a disclaimer.

Any ideas on where to look for this information?

Best regards,

Michael

Michael,

Here are two sites that provide you with pretty simple, free scripts to accomplish what you describe client-side (server side can get more complicated).

HTML Goodies can start you off with a very easy script at
"So You Want A Password Protected Page, Huh?" located at
http://www.htmlgoodies.com/pw.html

A more sophisticated script posted at Freecode (http://www.freecode.com/cgi-bin/viewproduct.pl?3077:
ebGATE lite version 1.2
JavaScript system that allows non-programmers to password protect web pages from the general public. Web developers who do not have access to the CGI bin and have no way to reconfigure server software can also benefit from this simple client-side solution.

Deirdre
