ok so i just got my powerbook g4 15'' maybe two weeks ago. Programs "unexpectedly quit" all the time! I am maybe using safari and AOL instant messanger all of the sudden ( after like 2 minutes) one of them quits. This has also happened with iMovie HD. I got a lot of upgrades on my computer when i ordered it and it just doesnt seem like it should be. it also overheats ALL THE TIME. It gets really hot and sometimes loud. especially around the hinge area. And one more thing, is it possible to use my laptop on another LCD display with the lid closed? OK ANOTHER THING. since i have a mac, shouldn't i have a mac.com email adress? how do i get one?
thanks and sorry for asking like 500 questions

Charlotte,

Mac's are great, not just good. I can assure you I never have any of the problems you are having and one of the best reasons I don't is by performing maintenance often such as running Disk Utility's repair permissions before and after installing any software or updates. Another good thing to do if repairing permissions doesn't help is to start up with your OS X install disk and again run Disk Utility but this time repair disk.

Buy the way you don't need AOL instant messenger, an instant messenger is built into the system software it called iChat. Check out Mac Help to learn about it.

Overheating and more noise than usual might be corrected by one or more updates to your system software if not I would take your computer back to your dealer or call Apple about warranty repairs.

Yes you can use your Mac with another LCD display with the lid closed, but only if you have a mouse and keyboard connected.

You don't need a .mac address just because you have a mac but it is a great service. Go to Apples web site and click on .Mac for more information. You can even get a 60 day trial.
