Problem: Software
Computer Type: IBM
Model: AIX on an RS6000
RAM: Not related
OS Version: AIX 3.2.5

Description:
I'm having problems mounting NFS-exported directories. To test the problem, I have been logging onto the system and attempting to mount the directory on another directory on the local system (i.e., mount systemath newpath).

When I do the mount, it times out. In attempting to diagnose the problem, I first pinged the system, then did an rpcinfo -p on the system. On both ping and rpcinfo, when I execute the command, it hangs for at least 60 seconds before proceeding. The mount, however, never works.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It takes 60 seconds to get a ping back? After the
initial ping gets back, do the later pings happen faster?
When you tell ping to ignore routing (if AIX ping has
that option), does it happen faster? What do the routing
tables look like?
