Hi!
I need to make my iBook cooling fan spin as soon as a switch on my computer and stay on constently until I shut off the computer. Is there a way to make this happen throught Mac Os X panther.
Thx!

Why do you need the cooling fan on all the time? It is controlled through firmware that you cannot change, so the only way to do what you want is to make the processor run hot all the time using a CPU intensive program. That wouldn't make a lot of sense, would slow down the software you do want to use and would shorten the life of your iBook as well.
HTH and please let us know what happens. Thanks.

Hi! Thank you very much for your answer. The reason I need my fan do be on is that the temperature sensor on my iBook is not working. The fan does not spin ever, even when my ibook is hot. Consequence, it freezes after 1h or so unless I put cooling ice bags underneath! I went to apple store, they want to charge me $300... They wanna change the whole motherboard! I just want the fan to spin all the time, that way I will not have any heating issue and It will not freeze... Lastly, my fan do work as I heard it spin when I used the hardware test software provided by apple.
Thanks!

I'm afraid that you can't "mod" the firmware that controls the fan without (probably) totally destroying your iBook. I don't know how old your iBook is, but $300 is a lot cheaper than a new or refurbished machine...Sorry I can't be more positive.
