I have an iBook G3. After startup the screen remains on blue, can't log in, I do have control of the cursor.
Can not even start up in safe mode.
I have no idea what to do ...
HELP?>!
Hi
Have you looked at this from the Apple site
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...m=106464#symp1
I have found the favourite culprit in this instance is either an item in your startup items that is corrupt or a damaged font, this could be in the OS9 system folder if you have that installed. Let me know how you get on.

Hiya...thanks for responding.
I should be more specific, sorry.
I have already tried many, many things:
- Disk Utility will not fix the problem
- through SUM after fsck I get: "keys out of order" and "(name) could not be repaired"
- I have tried pretty much everything I can, to no avail
- I never reach the log in screen
- don't have Classic loaded
Yikes!
Hi
It could just be the structure of the data on the drive is corrupt or that the hard drive is on the way out and itself is corrupting the data as its written to the drive.
Do you have another mac you can attache the ibook to and mount it in target disk mode
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
if you can then you may be able to copy off any important data.
At this point I would recover what data I could off the drive and then rebuild it with a fresh install of the system. I'm putting this back in the open pool to see if anyone can help you further.
