My trackpad stops working after maybe half an hour of use. It then willnot repond to any stimulus whatsoever. If I close the lid wait a second then open it again the trakpad works again allbeit for a short time. Is this a well known problem or is something simple wrong that i can fix myself?
Cheers

Hi Alastair,
Have you tried to zap your P/Ram? Which OS are you running?
-Reboot wait for apple chime
-Hold down option->command->P->R
But the best way to zap the p/ram is to pull out the p/ram battery for a few min.
How old is your machine, you may need a new battery.
Usually when I start seeing random hardware problems on my machines this is my fist point of trouble shooting.
Let me know what happends.

What does your P/Ram do? And what are the consequences of zapping it? I'm running 10.3.9, the machine is 2.5 years old, the battery is holding up ok I think, it still gives me 3/4 hours non-wifi time.
Thanks
Ali

This clears the contents of the Perameter-RAM which holds the current date/time, monitor type and other hardware / device details. If a machine is behaving erratically and software problems have been eliminated then zapping the P-RAM, forcing the system to refresh its settings may help. Note that you will need to correct the Date and Time using the Date/Time Control Panel after zapping the P-RAM. The P-RAM contents are maintained by a small battery. If your machine keeps forgetting its date/time setting, this battery may need replacing.
