I'm using a 900MHz G3 iBook with 640MB RAM and connecting to wifi via an Airport Extreme running v5.6 firmware. When I was using Panther, the iBook would automatically connect to my home network (128bit WEP). However, after upgrading to Tiger (and then 10.4.1 and then 10.4.2), it's necessary to click on the little signal icon at the top of the screen and manually choose my network. I'm using the "automatic" network setting...nothing automatic about it, as far as I can see. I tried setting up another profile specifying just this network...but no difference. Someone in an earlier post suggested deleting the keychain. Didn't work for me. Any thoughts? Thanks!!!!
Hi Tobi

Thanks, Bob! Unfortunately, the suggestions in these posts did not fix the problem. I tried deleting the network password from the keychain and then putting it back in. Problem remains the same...I must manually select my network (TDHomeNet) from the list, even though I supposedly saved it as the "preferred" network. Of some interest is the fact that when I go into Syetem Preferences->Network, the entry shown for Network is "Apple Network ecc0ce" rather than TDHomeNet (which I can select from a list and then supply with a password...again). I know the password is right...if I put the wrong one in, then when I try to connect it will fail. So, I don't think the wrong password is the problem.
Again, this was working before I installed Tiger.
