Trying to get iChat beween a PowerBook G4 w/ Tiger/Isight and a PC set up XP, USB camera.latest version of AIM
We've gone through all the iterations of firewalls, etc... and I still get the failed to connect because I did not respond and on the PC its gets a firwall error.
We're both on broadband, I'm not behind a router.
Just stumped with what to try next?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave
Video chat is still quite difficult - even Mac to Mac, because of how networks are built. Does either computer have a firewall turned on? In Mac, it's System Preferences -> Sharing -> Firewall. I don't know where it is on Windows, but firewall needs to be off (or just have the correct ports open). On Mac, it's off by default, but windows has it on by default, I think.
Also, try connecting to someone on your local network (inside your house). That should help to identify the problem. Tiger iChat has also been known to have problems with Comcast which has old network equipment.
