TICKET ARCHIVE -> ichat and aim

I have IChat, and everytime a pc user with AIM checks my away message (with right click - get info) they get signed off. is this because of my ichat settings or is it a problem with their computer/program.

any help would be great.

Sounds like a problem on their end on AIM, not something you can fix.

This happens with lots of different PC user looking at your away message? If you change your away message does it still happen? Is the text formatted anyway (colors or bold letters)? Does anything happen when they select your name, get info, when you are not away? Is there a link of any kind in the away message?

This is indeed an odd problem, I even went searching around to see if anyone else had reported a similar experience, and could not find another example of it. And if it was something that you were doing on the iChat end then I think lots of mac users would want to know so they could crash their PC friends just joking, of course. but yeah, I doubt that this is the fault of ichat, or at least anything that you'd be able to fix on your end of the connection.

i didn't think there was a way to change the format of my away message on ichat...also i have my default font set as eurostile...which i thought was pc compatible...but i guess it is not because everytime a pc tries to view my message/profile with aim it says font cannot be displayed...
