Hi
I've been trying to get ichat and skype working and seem to be having trouble with my new router. I tried checking and unchecking UPnP which amazingly worked for a while. but now it's not working again. Anyone got any ideas.

Hi dennis

You have to open ports on the router for iChat and Skype.

Read this for iChat ports;

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93208

and this for Skype;

Thanks! That worked for ichat but skype says i need port 80 or 443 open. When I try to open those ports on my router I get this message " Service Port number was defined by another service." although I don't seem to have another service relating to those ports. Any more ideas on this
Thanks again I'm half way there!

Port 80 and 443 will already be open, 80 for 'http'and 443 for 'https'.

For Skype, see if this helps;

Hi thanks again but ....I went to that page and read " In Skype under Tools -> Options -> Connections untick the option "Use ports 80 and 443 for incoming connections" but I can"t find "Tools" in my version of Skype (2.0.0.6)

Skype has a forum you can post to for help on this;

http://forum.skype.com/

I don't use Skype, so I'm not sure about how the ports have to be set.
