HI for some reason i had two versions of ichat, when i was cleaning up the computer, i dropped one of them onto the folder where the other one was, and it said an older version of this program is in this this folder do you want to replace it, i clicked yes, and ichat stopped working, it wouldnt even open, i tried deleting it, and reinstalling it from my osx installation disk, it seemed to have installed ok, it starts to open but then it just closes, and that message comes up saying ichat has unexpectedly quit do you want to send a report blah blah.
i tried using it on another user account, it opens and starts me through the set up proccess, but it stops half-way and the spinning ball comes up and thats it!!
help!!!

Saw your followup. There are a ton of questions needing to be answered at the moment and yours has not gotten much attention, nor a response yet. However, I suggest the following:

As iChat gets updated as part of Mac OS X, I recommend downloading and installing the latest combo update for your computer over top of what you have. If all goes well, this will install the latest version of iChat (or whatever components of it need updating from what you have) and you'll be back in business.
