Knowledge Level: Intermediate
Problem: Software
Computer Type: Apple
Model: Quadra 605
RAM: 32meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: System 7.6.1

Description:
Used a program to show invisibles and trashed some ancient history files, but seem to have trashed something useful by mistake. Standard procedure for replacing folder icons doesn't work any more (get info on icon folder, click to copy image, get info on destination folder, click to paste image). Paste command returns "Command not found" error. Paste works in graphic/text docs; it's just the icon paste command that won't work. Zapped PRAM, rebuilt desktop, clean reinstalled software. Still nothing. Also, "control panels" under Apple Menu takes me to the control panels folder in the System Folder instead of opening control panels directly. I hate this. What have I done?

You've trashed something you shouldn't have.
Reinstall system from CD 7.6
