Hi, thank you for taking the time to answer.

I'm a Mac Newbie on an iBook G4/Tiger 10.4.3.

Is there a way for the Finder app to display thumbnails of pictures while viewing in Columns View mode? Very much like how Windows XP is able display thumbnails while the left window panel is displaying the directory tree while the right panel is displaying pictures in thumbnails? I can't seem to find this tip/hint on the net.

Thank you very much,

The Finder really doesn't come with such a view, except as part of iPhoto. That's the easiest way to browse photos anyway. As for the Finder, you can use Pic2Icon (which I can send you) to make each picture's icon a thumbnail of it. Then, you can switch to icon view and maximize the size of your icons.

The best alternative is probably a shareware file browser: Rage Software's Macintosh Explorer. Among its features the picture preview mode you desire.

Thank you Ben. I'll go check out your suggestions. Just that for a XP defector like myself, I'm still learning to adjust to the behaviors and expectations of using Mac. But overall, OSX is really very nice..!

Happy New Year,
