Description:
I'm a PC user (Win 95), who is trying to help my parents with a problem. How do I create desktop icons on an iMac? They have "lost" their e-mail icon, and I wish to get it back for them. Thank you

First you need to find the email program. Sherlock in the Apple menu might help. Then click on it, then choose Make Alias from the File menu, or simply hold down the command (apple, or cloverleaf) and option keys while dragging the icon to the desktop and it'll make an alias. Aliases can be identified by a Windows-like curved arrow stamp, as well as the icon's name being in italics.
