I've got several Macs that have no problem keeping my .mac idisk current. My powerbook, though, won't update. It says "last sync failed" at the bottom of the window, and the Backup, Library and Software folders are replaced by text docs that say "The selected directory is only available when the iDisk is online. To access this directory you will need to take your computer online."
My computer IS online. running iSync doesn't help, it works normally but does nothing to my idisk.
what's wrong here?
I had problem very similar to this one with my Powerbook, and I sync would not cure not anyway.
What I did in the end was to download the IDisk utility and used that to ensure what was on my desktop Idisk and on the remote was the same.
Try that out and let me know what happens would you.

iDisk Utility doesn't do much for me. There are only 4 options, 2 of which are only about the Public folder, one is about buying more disk space. The other just opens the iDisk, and the idisk that opens is an un-synced one.
am i missing something? any other ideas?
A couple of things, could you let me know which OS you are using on the Powerbook, as in Tiger the way you sync changes you do not use Isync directly.
Also when you use Isync, you get a list from the Apple server of which computers are going to be synced, is your Powerbook listed here.
I have a feeling that you might be missing a step somewhere. It happened to me when i first started using my Powerbook, the problem is that since then I have been using Tiger and have not used Isync directly to update my Idisk.
What did get when I used the Idisk utility was a different Idisk on my desktop to the one that mounted on startup.
The system preference that controls the Idisk also has to be set up correctly for live syncing to take place, and you need to have this set to automatically if you have the Idisk mounted. I know when I had it set to manual I always got the last sync failed error. This was really annoying when sending custom Icards or playing with an .Mac type web site, none of the images I wanted to use were there until it was synced. That was where the Idisk utility worked for me, so I have to assume you are missing a step here. Easy to do because unless you can sift through the Apple Docs on the subject there is not much help available on the subject.
Check out this link to Apple's knowledgebase and see if this has any clues as to what is going on.
