While attempting to burn an incredibly important DVD, I got an "error #-1 was reported..." What the heck does that mean? I tried looking on the Apple website but nothing came up. Help.

Hello Marc :-)

Ok.. you posted this in the iLife Applications area so you are using iDVD correct???

Which Mac OS X are you running. If you aren't sure, please click the Apple logo top left of your Desktop, click:
About This Mac. A pane will open and give you the exact OS X whether it be 10.4.x, 10.3.x .. etc. Also, which iLife, 04 or 05???

Also, which software did you use to create the content? iMovie??? And what DVD media are you using? It makes a difference!

Get back to me with this information and I will try to help you out.. I just had a problem myself with iDVD, it kept telling me I had a multiplexing error. I got it going... so hopefully I can help you also.

Carolyn :-)

Carolyn,

Thanks so much for your response. I'm on OS X 10.4.2 and I created a movie from iMovie 5.0.2 into iDVD 5.0.1. I'm using a Memorex DVD-R (not my preferred choice, but I'm in a bit of a rush - deadline...)

All of my software is up to date and I did the following to try and resolve the error code:

I trashed my p.list file from the library (the one for iDVD) and that didn't work.

I started the whole project over from scratch in iMovie and that didn't work.

I read somewhere on here that someone used a 4.0 Theme instead of a 5.0 Theme and that did the trick.

So, before I went to bed last night (at 4am) I used a 4.0 Theme instead of a 5.0 Theme and then I let my PowerBook G4 do its thing.

When I woke up, I had my DVD. Not the DVD menu that I wanted (I prefer the 5.0 Themes) but had the DVD nonetheless.

This must be some sort of issue that Apple is having with this latest version of iDVD.

Thanks for your response... Let me know if you hear of anything about this problem...

:-)

Marc

HI Marc,

Well at least you have the DVD made. I too have had some glitches with iMove and iDVD. Everytime I burn a disc using iDVD, a end up with a bad memory block and have to use
TechToolPro4 to fix it... which is great.. it does, but turns out I had a corrupted video clip... causing multiplexing errors... once I got rid of the clip.. it was ok.

Anyway... next time I visit my local Apple store and see the tech guy I talk to I'm going to mention this... see if he has any answers...

OH.. next burn.. if you can... use Apple's DVD's...

Post back for tech support of any kind Marc!

Thanks Carolyn.

I think it may have something to do with iDVD 5.0.1 and the new update.

It has to with the 5.0 Themes not working... I have no idea. Thank you for your generosity and expeditious responses. I got my DVD in under the deadline with about 45 minutes to spare! Now I'm off to get some well deserved rest. Talk to you soon!

Marc
