Anyway to burn a DVD using iDVD4 without a superdrive?
No - iDVD v 4 won't burn to any drive except an internal DVD burner (Apple calls that a SuperDrive), iDVD4 will not recognize an external burner. Newer versions will work with an external burner. I think that capability started with version 5, maybe 6
If you are asking if it is possible to burn a DVD on a CD burner, the answer to that is also No.
Thanks. I was looking into this a bit more and found out this... The Mac I have 1st needs iLife 06 to be able to use on a external DVD burner. 2nd, I barely make the sys req. for iLife 06 with 10.3.9 (but they recommend 10.4.4). 3rd, to use iMovie or iDVD 6 themes, I need 10.4.4 (which I don't have). In addition, I need a Quartz Extreme graphics card to use the themes. Basically, I need to get Tiger, iLife 06 (cause iLife 08 requires G5 intel Macs), a Quartz Extreme Graphics Card... Looking at over 300! Any ideas?
This page gives you a better explanation for iLife '08 requirements.

Your G4 will be OK with everything else
The only app that you can't use is iMovie '08
This vid card would work for you - supports the Quartz Extreme that you need.

iLife '08 also recommends 1GB of RAM or more.
So, with Tiger (or Leopard), iLife '08, upgrade vid card, some more RAM...
Yes, you will be over $300 - closer to $500 if you do it all.
You would need to decide if it is worth spending that much on a 4 year old computer.
