Description:
How do I administer a web server running IIS from a remote internet connection? I believe it is one of the IIS tools, but how do I connect via tcp/ip(without dialing RAS into it)? Also are there ways to have the web server email or page(beeper) you when something goes wrong? (Not just SQL errors like BackOffice has but just ALL errors).

Hello James,

Without compromising your server, you can't administer it from outside (IP). A server like Netscape FastTrack or something will let you, but you pick certain IP addresses, etc. Because IISadmin uses named pipes to authenticate and you can't use a named pipe across the net, you may be out of luck there without RAS. My suggestion is to maybe look at pcAnywhere from Symantec. That will give you IP into a machine that CAN administer the server...

Thanks for using NoWonder!
