Is there any possible issue with my system that would prevent an otherwise suitable and brand new iLife Install disk from loading on the DVD drive on my PowerMac Dual-G4 machine? I have tried not one, but 3 different disks straight out of the packaging and one of them I even confirmed to work at the Apple store before taking it home. I tried each disk on two separate drives, one was the stock combo internal drive and the other is an HP DVD940e external drive. Neither read the disk at all. Any ideas?

Is the iLife installer DVD the only disk that your computer cannot read?
Do your two drives read CDs OK?
Can you read other DVDs in either drive?
Can you try a DVD movie disk in your internal drive?
What version of OS X are you using?

1) Yes, the iLife installer DVD is the only disk that my computer cannot read.
2) All cds and dvds other than this disk seem to read fine. The iWork trial DVD that came with each iLife box ran fine on both drives every time.
3) DVD movies work fine. I tried older and new disks.
4) I just updated to 10.4.8 today to see if that worked. Nothing different. Before that, 10.4.7.

You say 3 different iLife sets, and none work for you, yet one did work in a different Mac?
What happens when you insert the iLife DVD
-error message? What is the message?
-disk ejects with no message?
-Nothing at all happens?
Just for a possibility, have you tried installing the DVD when you are logged in as a different user? If you have only one user, you could create one just for this purpose. Still strange if that works then....

All three disks failed and I had to end up having the disk image put on an external drive.
When I insert the disk it seems to seek for a brief second and then makes a strange noise. This is on the internal combo drive.
On the external DVD 940 it just keeps trying to read the disk for several minutes and then spits it out.
I tried creating a new account and then loading the disk. Same thing..
