For HP PSC 1510 printer reasons, an HP support person made me re-install my Tiger 10.4 system in my Mac Mini, using the DVD that comes with it. All my information was lost, but not only that, I realized that iLife, that was included in the Mac when I started, was not there anymore. I don't find any disc containing it to restore it. Have I lost iLife for good? do I have the rights to it so as to download it without cost? have I been screwed by this HP guy?

Hi

You shouldn't have had to reinstall the system because of a printer problem.

Insert the Mac OS X Install Disc 1 that came with your computer.
Double-click Install Bundled Software Only.
Follow the onscreen instructions. look for iLife.
Select the destination disk for installation and continue following the onscreen instructions.

Instructions for doing should be in the Welcome to Tiger booklet that came with the computer.

I found the issue: I bought the Mini precisely when Tiger was released, so it came with Tiger but also the CDs for Panther. iLife was in the Panther CD, not the Tiger. That's why I had not found them.

You're absolutely right about not reinstalling a system because of a printer. The way the HP guy directed me, I thought we were just backing up on the version, without losing info. My rookie mistake, but very un-professional of the HP person.

I'm ok now, thanks.
