KNOWLEDGE LEVEL: Beginner

PROBLEM: Software
COMPUTER TYPE: Acer
MODEL: Entra 2000
RAM: 48meg
OS VERSION: Windows 95
SERVICE PACK: Pentium 166 mmx

DESCRIPTION:

I have been getting this message -"This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down". I have only noticed it on Netscape , Icq and STMS.
Sometimes when i go to close the notice down it will not leave the screen and i have to reboot the computer to close down.


I got the details from one of the messages....Stms caused an invalid page fault in module< unknown> at 0000.00000000

Hello Mark,
and welcome to NoWonder!!!

Well, we all get this sort of error message. One pointer... If you did not already try this, one thing to do is press ALT-CTRL-DEL, and wait. Click on the application that is not working on the menu, and press END TASK. This should close the window. Another thing, something I have noticed that helps is that if you system more or less freezes, press ALT-CTRL-DEL, and press cancel. This sometimes unfreezes your computer. If pressing ALT-CTRL-DEL does not bring up a menu, your computer is "locked up," and you must reboot, that is all you can do...
