Powerbook G4 - OS X 10.4 Illustrator CS has stopped working - will no longer launch.

Howdy!
First thing: have you repaired permissions on your computer? Try that now: apps/utilities/disk utility/repair permissions.
If that doesn't work, then restart and try to open illustrator.
If that doesn't work then find your illustrator preference file (type in illustrator to search and find the .pref file--move it to your desktop in a folder marked DELETED and then restart illustrator). It will create a new preference file and all your settings will revert to original.
Let me know if this helps. Do each step, one at a time, and hopefully you won't have to delete the preference file as stated above.

Hi Nathaniel,
Thanks so much for your response. Unfortunately, nothing worked. I then ttried to reinstall the Illustrator component of the CS package and that didn't help either. All other apps seem to work fine.
Any other suggestions you have would be most appreciated.
Best,
Richard

If you've repaired permissions your next step is to get your disk 1 system disk and boot up with that, then "repair disk" and see if that resolves the issue.

Hi NAthaniel,
Sorry for delay in responding.
Afraid that the System Disk Repair did not fix the problem either.
Thanks,
Richard

Try restarting.
If that doesn't work create a new user account (set as "admin") and see if illustrator works then.
Let me know if either of these things give a good result.
If your new log in account lets you launch Illustrator you know you have something wrong with your user account, but we'll take it one step at a time.

Hi Nathaniel,
Created a new Account (w/ Admin rights). Rebooted and attempted to launch Illustrator CS - no luck, I'm afraid.
Where do we go from here?
Thanks again for all your help!

Hmm...Were there any warnings or software you installed before the problem started?
