OS Version: MacOS 8.1
Description:
This new iMac came with an Epson 440 printer and cable. I use lots of pc games for my kids. Everything worked fine until I tried to print. It initially wouldn't print. I called Epson tech support (not a Mac person) and they said turn off stuff. Doing that allowed printing, but no more games. Turning things back on causes games to work, but now after an hour or so the system freezes and it can't even be shut down.
Since this looks like an extension conflict AND the 440 is not the recommended printer, should I: 1) try to resolve the conflict, 2) look for updated Epson drivers (tech support was no help), or 3) exchange the 440 for a 740 ???? OR 4) your suggestion:::
If I do 3), how do I clean out the bad stuff?
Thanks, dan
PS Please don't give my e-mail address to anyone. many thanks

Hi Dan
Thank you for using No Wonder!!
You can download the latest drvers for the printer at;
www.epson.com/support/styc440.html
Also, go to apple.com/support and make sure that you have all the current iMac updates...
The best way to clear out any bad stuff is to go to your Preferences folder which is in the Systems folder. Trash these preferences..
FINDER PREFERENCES... all, PRINTING PREFERENCES,, EPSON PREFERENCES and all your games preferences
things should start to work better!!! ;-)
let me know if you have any other problems.. I do recommend that as soon as you can afford it, to add more memory.You really should have atleast 64+ to be able to allocate more memory to your games,, or get RAMDOUBLER .
Thanks again for using No Wonder!!
