on start up i get a smilie face with a little
coloured spinning disc in top left corner
after a little time it stops
ive tried pram/shift on start up but nothing
changes please help cheers Lewis

I am sorry to inform you this but, i think your os is gone! Either you have the "C" key stuck on the keyboard (i doubt this) or your os boot record is bad. One more possibility is that you might have a hard drive failure. Try re installing mac os, if it says theres no hard drive, then we know why it failed. You might need to buy a new hard drive.
