I have a iMac G5 and I'm running OS X 10.3.9
Suddenly I can't burn CD.
I put a blank CD in the drive and it doesn't show up on my desktop. I have already gone to the System Preferences and checked that I have Open Finder when I insert a blank CD.
The weird thing is that the blank CD shows up in itTunes. And I can burn music files through iTunes.
I have checked my system profile. Under ATA it says:
MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-825:
Manufacturer: MATSHITA
Model: MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-825
Revision: DBN7
Serial Number:
Drive Type: CD-RW/DVD-RW
Disc Burning: Apple Supported/Shipped
Removable Media: Yes
Detachable Drive: No
Protocol: ATAPI
Unit Number: 0
Socket Type: Internal
Any suggestions?
THANKS!
This is one I haven't seen before. It does appear that your drive is fine, since iTunes can burn to it. There's a .plist file associated with the Finder that could be corrupted and causing this problem.
Open the Finder and navigate to your user home directory. Then open the Library folder. Then open the Preferences folder. Look for a file named "com.apple.finder.plist" . Drag that file to the trash, and restart. Do you still have the problem?
I tried, and I still have the problem. Any other suggestions?
No, unfortunately I do not. I'll have to put this back into the open pool.
