Description:
Help! I can't get sound out of the headphone jacks.... they used to work and now they no longer dop. I get sound from the computer's speakers, but when I plug the headphones in either in the headphone jacks or the sound jack, I get no sound. I've checked all volume controls, fiddled with sound settings in the Monitors and Sound control panel, rebuilt the desktop.... to no avail.
Any suggestions?

In the monitors and sound control panel is the mute checkbox checked? Sometimes this may be what does the trick.
In situations as these rebuilding the desktop will not help what you would want to try is zapping the PRAM.
Command-Option-P-R.
