TICKET ARCHIVE -> Image Capture's Preferences Not Opening

Hello, I've recently bought a new Sony Ericsson K750i and am in love with it. Hooking it up via USB for now, while I wait for my BT Dongle, works fine except for one thing. The iPhoto app auto-launches every time I connect. I've tried going into the preferences but nothing there. I google it and eventually see a few forum posts saying the option is actually in the Image Capture app's preferences. Wonderful, I proceed to launch Image Capture and now my obstacle is that the preferences simply won't open when either clicked on or though keyboard shortcut.
Frustrating, to say the least. Although it only takes seconds for iPhoto to open it still isn't something I want to see every time I connect a phone I am constantly playing with. Perhaps bluetooth would fix the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
MacNic

Although no expert, my tech level is fairly knowledgable. Have been working and playing with PC's for years, with the occasionaly Mac use from time to time, and finally last year bought the G5 and have been a Mac-head since. I try to learn as much as possible, as I am seriously considering a career-change to the CompSci, IT, etc. arena.

Actually, delete your iPhoto prefs file (com.apple.iPhoto.plist) in your Preferences folder inside the Library folder of your home folder. Then launch iPhoto. You will get a choice of whether you want to have iPhoto automatically open when you connect a digital camera (which is what iPhoto thinks your phone is). Choose "No" and iPhoto should not open every time you hook up your phone via USB. You will also have to open iPhoto yourself if you hook up a digital camera to download pictures into iPhoto, but that's no big deal.

When you connect your phone to your Macintosh via BT, this will become a nonissue.

HTH and please let us know what happens.

Followed your advice, there was no question to not auto-open when connecting a camera. I was only given a "Welcome to iPhoto!" screen letting me know what it can do and then after "OK" the app opens up as normal. I then tried taking out the image capture preferences and that did nothing either. After this, I even tried re-deleting the pref's in iPhoto and hooking up the phone/cam, the same initial welcome message appeared leading to the program opening but still no auto-launch option.

Bleh. Anything else I could do?

Thanks
