I'm trying to share my iTunes libraries between a Powerbook and Win XP.
Both computers find each other without a problem when starting iTunes on both computers, yet on my mac I do not see all the tunes I have in my library on my PC (only 535 of 4000+).
Also, a lot of files that are shown can not be played. When clicking them, the song just doesn't start to play, when clicking another song the previous one is marked with an exclamationmark.
I can't find any similarities between the files that aren't working.
I can't find any references in console.log or system.log
Both computers are connected to a router on 10.0.0.130, subnet 255.255.255.0
Powerbook: 10.0.0.210 through a wifi router/AP
Win XP: 10.0.0.110, wired
Windows computer has XP SP2 with McAfee Firewall (granted full access to iTunes.exe) and the Rendezvous Technology Preview 4
Thank you a lot for your response. I forgot to tell I off course tried uninstalling and installing the latest version on both machines.
However, I didn't know 4.5 had this problem, I probably used this version when I built my library.
Your reaction inspired me to remove the iTunes personal folder containing the library (iTunes 4 Music Library.itl, iTunes Music Library.xml), then adding my folders to the library again. This did the trick!
Thanks again.
Congratulation Joris, glad you got it fixed. Thanks for letting me know what you did to resolve the problem. I have run into corrupted music library files before but with different symptoms. Good to know.
Take Care
