Hi,

I'm a new G5 user.

When I set the system to energy save after x hours of inactivity, it does not re-initialize properly upon wake up. Specifically, the screen image on my Sony flat panel display in "torn", sometimes vertically, sometimes horizontally, sometimes skewed left or right. This requires a system restart as the image cannot be moved on the disply.

Thanks for any suggestions

Hey Paul,

I had a similar problem with one of my workstations at work, and the problem was a usb device that was plugged on to the monitor.

Try removing extra usb devices and try adding one at the time.

let me know how it goes.

When was the last time you completely power down your system?
Is this printer shared?
Try unplugging your printer, shutdown restart, do a quick energy saver with out the printer being plugged in and see what happends. Power off before reconnecting usb again.

Let me know how it goes.

Hector, I followed the suggestion and it worked fine in 4 "sleep wake ups" ...no torn image!!

The printer is an old NEC Superscript 870 that works like a charm but is not supported ....we had to find some drivers to get it to work ...it that the problem or was it because I had plug it in while the system was running?

Thanks for the help ....let's hope it continues to behave

Good to hear,

I like to power down and let the system recognized new software or devices before I plug them in.

I don't know why, but g5 are known to have issues with usb devices.
