I currently use InDesign CS on my mac osx vs 10,3,9.

The rest of my office is PC, I recently was given access virtual pc (XP Professional).

Another department is running InDesign CS2 on PC. I cannot open their documents. I need to upgrade to InDesign cs2.

I have asked to upgrade to InDesign cs2 mac version, However, my IS deptatment wants me to use InDesign on Virtual PC. Is this a good way to go?

I love my mac.

Hi Marci, I am François your volunteer tech,

Please, Don't use a graphic app on Virtual PC !
Virtual PC is a pc emulation, emulated graphic card is a very slow card.
VPC is ok for office apps, not for design and graphics,
it will be like buying a Ferrari to put on it a Ford T motor engine

Better (and cheaper, to) to upgrade to Indesign CS2 for Mac
but first you can also make Indesign CS1 updates (go to Indesign Help menu to check if exists updates (of course your mac must be connected to Internet
Last Indesign CS1 update is precisely for compatibility with CS2 !!!

regards,
françois

Hi again,

I did the InDesign updates, but I still cannot open InDesign 2 pubs. The InDesign 2 was created on a PC, does that make a difference?

Thanks

this update provide a feature for indesign cs1:
now you can read .inx files (interconnect files)
so operators on indesign cs2 must register their files in .inx format
