can't open Indesign CS, "this application has unexpectedly quit"

I've tried shut down and restart, opening from the program and from different Indesign files. No luck.

Howdy Marci. I need more info:

--Have you installed anything new, computer updates, etc.?
--Have you tried deleting your InDesign preference file? (remember when you do this you will lose any custom settings for InDesign, so save the preference file on your desktop. InDesign will create a new pref file).
--Have you repaired permissions yet? Go to Apps/Utilities/Disk Utility and "repair permissions". This fixes many problems and should be done regularly--at least once every two weeks.
--Are you opening ID files from a server or from your computer's own hard drive?

Let me know if anything shakes your InDesign loose.
