I am installing an additional hard drive in my mothers G5, (I believe 2004). I did it to mine a few years ago but am having a brain fart and can't remember how I got all the info from the old drive to the new one and how I got the computer to recognize the new one. The hard drive itself is already in and we can see it in the System Profile, however that is the only place we can see it!
Also, am I correct that I need to install the operating system on the new drive? Or can I just copy everything?

Thanks

Sandi

Hi Sandy

First, format the drive as Extended. Use Disk Utility in your Utility folder.

Then you can either install a new system from the Tiger disc, or clone the old drive to the new drive for an exact bootable copy.

You have to use a program to do this, you can't simply drag and drop.

SuperDuper
is the best program to do this.
