Help,
when installing iLife from disk message box says: contents on a locked volume and won't install. Trying to copy disk to hard drive it fails to copy applesupport.bom files and will not install.

Thanks

Why are you installing iLife from a disk image and not from the original CD?

A disk image can be used to make a "backup" CD, but you need a CD to install iLife.

I have the original ! doesn't ask for password or serial No., just pops up with the "contents on a locked volume" dialog. iLife installs with Stuffit? but can you copy from a disk image? Is that what a back-up is for.,
thank you this is helpful, I'm an old mac hand just moving to OSX.

Tech hasn't responded on my installation of iLife from an original program disk. I am trying to decide between account problem or disk problem. I want to use garage band and it was not on my iMac as I purchased from ebay. iTunes, iphoto, iChat but no garageband. When I install iLife from disk (or any other program) the dialoge box says: contents on a locked volumn. I can download programs and install from the internet. Do I need to install a clean OSX to overcome this or is there a back door?
Thanks for all your communications. Any tech help is good help!
