Mac PPC OSX 10.4.11, 1.5GB DDR2 SDRAM, 2.1GHz processor, 1.5 GB DDR2 SDRAM

HELP! My 500GB HD crashed and was replaced by Apple. I reinstalled original 10.4 system disk & ungraded to 10.4.11. I am having problem with address book not opening.

I would like to install Leopard (I have a macbook w/leopard)
Is my iMac compatible with Leopard?

If I install, should I erase HD before installing?
Please, any help you can give is appreciated. I am a novice.

Yes, your iMac can upgrade to Leopard. You can't use the same disk that came with your MacBook, unless the Leopard install disk is black (and not grey)
Erasing the drive is your choice. I recommend that you choose the option to Archive & Install. You get that by clicking the Option button on the screen where you select the drive.
