I have a G4 Quicksilver dual 1.42ghz. My old harddrive recently crashed and I am trying to install a new Seagate 160GB drive. For some reason when I try to install OS it won't recognize the drive. I've seen some posts that indicate that these macs won't recognize a drive larger than 120gb? Is this my problem?
Thanks

If your G4 is not upgraded, and has the original dual 1.42 GHz, then you have a Mirror-Drive-Door model, and not a Quicksilver. Later Quicksilver models, and all Mirror drive door models will accept large hard drives (larger than 128GB)
Did you format your replacement drive yet - the installer does not do this automatically.
boot to your installer disk. Go to the menus and choose Disk Utility. Click on your new drive, and click the erase tab, then click on the Erase button. You can name the hard drive on this screen if you want to do that.
You should then be able to install successfully.

Thanks for the quick response. Obviously I am fairly new to this. Learning as I go. Thanks
