Hi Robert!

Thanks for using MacOSX.com.

Let me get this straight. You want to replace your current drive wiht a brand new 40GB drive?

The process is rather simple.

1) Locate your Mac OS X install disks.

2) Replace your existing drive with the new drive.

3) Insert Disc 1 of Mac OS X into the computer. While holding the C Key, fire up the machine. Keep holing the "C" key until your CD starts to boot. Follow the instructions.

Hope that is what you wanted. If not, let me know and I can clarify.

Thanks for the quic responce.
I already put in the new hard drive so now the copmuter has nothing on it a clean new hard drive. The computer and hard drive works fine. When I am starting to instal the OS
it says I need to slect a destination and file to put the software on before the OS can be installed on a blank computer. And it said something about a partition. Thats where I ran into a problem. The software dis boot up but can't install untill I do this other I explained above.
Thanks. I hope I made myself clear this time,
Thanks for your time,
Robert

Robert,

It should walk you through the correct steps. It will ask if you want to format the drive, yes. It might ask you what type of partition. MFS+ would be the one you'd want.

The destination drive, then would be the new hard drive you just partioned.

If you are still stuck, tell me exactly what is on the screen. I can tell you which button to push.

Robert,

Just a quick correction. Another tech pointed this out, I didn't catch my typo. You should select HFS+, not MFS+. That last won't even be an option. Sorry for the confusion, I shouldn't respond to questions so late.
