Hello, this isn't the usual type of help request you get but I still think you can help me.
I ordered a second-hand copy of OS 10.3 from an Amazon seller, but when it came the discs were the discs that should come with an iMac.
I have a Dual 2ghz Power Mac.
The discs say: "iMac G5 Mac OS X Install Disc 1" and "iMac G5 Mac OS X Install Disc 2" on their labels. (Also "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold separately.")
I've tried to use them to upgrade the OS on my Dual 2ghz Power Mac but it obviously won't work. I get the message "Bundled software cannot be installed on this computer".
I asked the seller for a full refund in return for sending the discs back to him, but I think he believes that I have already used the discs to update my Mac and am returning them under false pretenses (and so won't refund me the full price).
Could you please confirm for me (so I can direct him to this page ) that it would be impossible for me to use those discs he sent me to upgrade my PowerMac.

Thanks very much, Mark

P.S. after seeing what he'd sent me I bought a brand-new Panther family pack from Amazon directly and that installed and is running fine.

I think if the disks were sold as 10.3 disks, you have a valid complaint, especially given the "not to be sold separately" language.

The seller may not have realized that there would be a problem, since some X install disks labelled for other systems (for example, eMac G4s) would universally install X without a hitch, and were/are in fact provided as X disks by many retailers (such as OWC.)

I have a set of the iMac G5 disks, and they will not install on other systems. In my opinion, they have to be considered iMac G5 disks, not X install disks.
