I was wondering if there was an 'easy' method to use the internal hard disk of my broken iBook G4 14" as an external hard disk, so I can connect it using USB, or Firewire, and have access to all my previous files. Would I have to rewire anything? Or just simply buy something for it?
Thanks in advance.

Three ways:
1. Put your iBook in FireWire Target Disk Mode by holding T at startup. Hard disk mounts on computer connected to iBook by FireWire.
2. Remove hard disk from iBook and connect by USB to other computer using
NewerTech Universal Drive Adapter.
3. Remove hard disk from iBook and insert in external enclosure of your choice and connect to other computer.

One last question. On the site you gave me, it shows it supports all optical disk drives too, so I should be able to hook up my internal combo drive from my broken iBook to another mac without problems and have another working drive?
Or will I need any other adapters?

Would this work for both my internal hard disk and my internal optical drive?

Probably, but not at the same time. You'd need two adapters, which means using two USB ports. At that point, you might be better off leaving the iBook put together and using target disk mode, which will capture both drives.
Why aren't you getting your iBook repaired?

Yeah, its fine if it doesn't work at the same time, as long as I can still use both devices. Thanks a lot for the advice.
I have sent my iBook to apple, and their diagnosis was that the motherboard has a 'hair thin crack' and the only thing they would do is replace the whole MLB, which costs far too much, its better to just get a better and newer computer.
I'm only a student and luckily for me, my parents will be buying me a new macbook soon. So now I'm just taking from my old Ibook what I can make use of, such as my old HD, which is only partly backed up, so I can use some of the stuff on my new laptop, which I hopefully will get soon..
The rest I think I'll try and sell what I can..
Thanks for all the advice,
Tiago
