I am retiring soon and will doing a lot of RV travel. I plan to carry my desktop I-Mac with me instead of a laptop. I will be gone for 2-3 weeks at a time and would like to be able to get my e-mail and do a little surfing to keep up to date and also to pay my bills on line.

What do I need to connect to the internet in places such as National and State Parks where there is no cable. I have heard the cell phone option but would like to know if it can be done using a special card (usb maybe?) and don't mind a slow connection.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Joe Todd

You can connect anywhere internet connection is offered, sometimes for a fee at Starbucks, but you will probably find open public connections.

There are maps with connections online, go to google.com and do a search on your areas. In addition, there is a neat little utility call coconutWiFi that runs in the menubar and can be set to beep when it sniffs an open connection. If I were travelling, maybe I'd also look into those little antenna that velcro on the back ...

Where there is no cable, there will still probably be dial up or maybe even satellite internet. I think it won't take much research to find all this out.

You'll be getting your mail via webmail, so set that up before you go!

Have fun!
