All other problems got solved but this one, I have two laptops working now, and a home computer. The home computer is connected by dsl, my toshiba laptop is connected by a shared wireless modem. I would like to run the OS x from the shared connection but it won't recognize the correct password. Anyone else have this problem?

Jim,
I need to know a bit more information. How are you connecting the OS X machine to get internet?
It could be that your DSL modem will only allow one wireless connection at a time. What brand/model DSL modem do you have?

The OS X Machine is equipped with an AirPort connection for wireless, according to it, it's identified the wireless network, asked me for the password to enter the network but when I enter the password, it says that the password is invalid.
The DSL Modem is a Siemens SpeedStream 4100, from SBC/Yahoo

Jim,
I want to make sure I have the picture of your set up correct.
You have a SpeedStream connected to your phone line.
The airport card in the Mac sees the SpeedStream wireless connection.
Did you enter the WEP key into Airport's Assistant to set it up. The WEP key of the SpeedStream should be on the bottom of the unit under the serial number. It may not be labeled as a WEP key.
Is this the first time you are using the SpeedStream? I do believe that SBC requires you to connect using the Ethernet connection to set up the modem.
Have you done that?
Did you try using the WEP key as the password?

I think we're getting closer. This morning, under system preferences, it says: Airport is connected to the network. Airport has a self assigned IP address and may not be able to connect to the internet.

Jim,
That message is an indication that you may need to update the Airport application. What version OS X are you running?
Also, go to Applications>Utilities. Click once on Airport Setup Assistant. Go to the File menu and select Get Info. What version does it say it is?
Depending on those versions will depend on which update to install.

Jim,
Here is where you can download the update.

Once downloaded, install it, then see if your connection can come through.
