Description:
When I connect onto AOL everything is usually fine until I type in a web address and try to go to it. The computer will freeze within seconds of the attempt to access the website. The only way I can restart it is by pushing that small hole thingie in the side of the comp, no other more conventional methods of restart work. It also seems that any attempt including the use of hyperlinks will freeze the comp. I already tried doubling the memory (preffered size) for aol. I tried fixing how much virtual memory I use. Nothing seems to work. And if you are wondering how I am on here to send this message for help - this is the first time in @ 12-15hrs of troubleshooting that I have actually finally managed to get onto the internet. Needless to say, I am really frustrated and would appreciate help ASAP. Thank you in advance!!

In addition to a re-installation of the AOL software, a sweep with Norton Utilities or Disk First Aid might identify the problem.
I would trash the browser/aol preferences as a precaution, too.
Since this is now affecting you startup, it might be best to zap the PRAM after you've fixed everything else.
