PROBLEM: Combination
COMPUTER TYPE: iomega
MODEL: zip 100
RAM: 64meg
OS VERSION: Windows 98

DESCRIPTION:

No Wonder,

I purchased a iomega zip drive to use with my macintosh which worked just fine. I have now purchased a PC and am trying to use the zip drive with it without any luck. I have done the following to try and rectify the problem:

1. I have installed the iomega tools from "iomega toolbox for zip & jaz" CD, because the tools disk that came with the zip drive had files for PC installation erased when the zip drive was installed on the macintosh.
2. In the bios setup under power management setup I have changed the parallel port from Disabled to Enabled
2a. Under Integrated Peripherals, Parallel port mode is changed from ECP to EPP.

I have got to Hard Drive a 6GB which has windows98 and a 630MB which i will be trying to install windows NT. (hopefully this does not cause to much of a problem). I have also got a scaner which i have used though the printer port so i know the port works. (when I have the Zip daisy chained with the scaner a "Cannot Operate!"window appeared and No.4 was "Please remove the printer port passthrough device."after doing this the scaner works fine.

Thanking you inadvance for your invaluable time and help

sam

Hello Sam,
Sounds like your doing everthing pretty much right, have you tried having the zip drive be first in your daisy chain? I believe that this is a requirement built into iomega zip drives. Also, you may try downloading the pc drivers for you iomega zip drive directly from the iomega web site as those are the most current drivers for the device. These can be found at:
http://www.iomega.com/software/
Hope this is helpful to you,
Thanks for using NoWonder.
