I like the preset sizes for cropping images.
Is there a way that I can create some custom sizes as well?

I'd like to create some custom sizes for cropping,
and I'd like to use pixels as the measurement instead of inches.

Okay, well once you have an image in iPhoto, you can simply double click the image to enlarge it. Once its enlarged you can go the "Constrain" option at the bottom of the page. Click on that, then select the "Custom" option. A little dialog box scrolls down, their you are able to insert the amount you want via pixels.

Then a box will come up over the picture you selected with the correct size marked. Everything outside the box will be grayed out. Once you move the box around to where you want, you can hit the "crop" button, and your done.

--> side note --> 72 pixels per inch.

Thanks,

Aha. I'm using Iphoto 2.0.1 and there is no "custom" option. You must be using a newer or the newest version of Iphoto.

I don't want to buy Ilife because I don't need most of it.

I'm running OS 10.3

I've been reluctant to get the newest version of OSX. I know that problems can result from upgrading.

Could you help me through the process?

Yes, I have Photoshop, but don't want to open it for little stuff like this. I onluy use it when I have more major workd to do.

Photoshop would be the easiest to resize pictures... (My point of view) I will send your topic back to the tech pool... Maybe someone else can help you out with this problem. Personally I would use photoshop to resize my images...

Thanks,

Well I'm trying to stay up-to-date, and that can be hard with Apple sometimes. I'm currently using Tiger (10.4.1), and I'm using iPhoto 5.0.2, the one that comes in iLife. I'm not a big iPhoto user, I just noticed that iPhoto 5.0.2 had the needed features to do what you need to do.

Let me know if theirs anything else I can tell you.

Thanks,
Paul Fletcher
