Hi,
I have 900 photos on my memory card in my digital camera that I want to import onto my macbook in iphoto. I have had my macbook for 1 year and hadn't ever had a problem until 2 months ago. When I try to import them, iphoto sees the camera but says there are no photos to import. I can view the photos in my camera, and I put the memory card into my son's computer card reader and his pc sees the pictures. I even swapped the card into a friends camera and tried it to see if iphoto could see the pictures from her camera. No luck. It seems the problem is with iphoto.
Will reinstalling iphoto solve the problem. If so, how do I do that. Any help is appreciated.

Try accessing the photos using Image Capture, which you will find in your applications folder. If that fails to find the pictures, you can try to use a card reader to access the data (most USB versions should work). If all else fails, try downloading the photos on your son's computer, transferring them to your MacBook, then reformatting the card in the camera (not just erasing everything - reformatting may help if the card has been corrupted in some way), then see if you can access new photos.
If you are still having issues after that, it would help me to know the model of your camera and flash media.
