Hi, I've just bought the new iLife '06 and I've installed it correctly. I tried opening it but I got this message saying:
THIS ALBUM WAS CREATED WITH AN UNRELEASED VERSION OF iPHOTO
Please quit and upgrade this photo library by opening it in iPhoto 2 or iPhoto 4.
I don't understand this as I've only ever had the free trial that came with my computer. I'd greatly appreciate your help.
Thank you,
Alex
iPhoto was a free download prior to version 4, or came with new Macs.
iPhoto was included with Macs free, and could be downloaded for free until version 4, which was part of the iLife package. So version 4 and later has to be paid for, either separately, or included with the purchase of a new Mac. There was no version 3. enough history!
So, I'm guessing with that message, that you did not have any version 2 or newer version,
Do you know what your version was before installing the iLife '06? I'm sure that the installer for '06 would not replace a version that is not recognized as a valid, released version. So, the older iPhoto is still on your system, and you can find out what version it is ? ?
Or, you can download version 2, install that, open your library with that. Then you should be able to use it with the version 6. And, then remove the version 2.
Let me know how it goes...
