TICKET ARCHIVE -> iphoto slideshows with music

Hello.

I am running OSX.3.9, Itunes 6 and iphoto 4

When I opened iphoto today to play some of my slideshows the slideshows would not start running immediately. I forced quit and tried again several times but it still would not work. After playing around with the settings I found that if I changed the music setting to one of the itunes songs that I had uploaded from a CD, the slideshow would work instantly. As soon as I changed the music setting back to one of the itunes songs I had downloaded from the internet, the slideshow would run until 4 to 5 minutes after trying to start it

I noticed that the downloaded songs are .mp3 and the songs uploaded from cd are .m4a is this a factor?

In the slideshow settings under the music setting you can listen to the song you have selected in order to check it is okay prior to playing the slideshow. Whenever I do this, the songs I have selected play perfectly, but as soon as I try to play the slideshow nothing happens for 4-5 minutes. That colored beachball starts spinning and spinning and spinning and I have to force quit. Previously when I selected the music to match the slideshow the slideshow started instantly.

Today is the first time I have had this problem and would appreciate any advice you have. I am not a techie so the simpler the better.

Many thanks

Kety

Hi Kety,

It isnt a factor, if the music you want to play in a iPhoto Slideshow is .mp3 or .m4a or.wav or whatever. Where did you download the music from the internet?

Hello again Ferdinand

Yes the limited songs that I have that are not from my cd collection were downloaded from a site called Limewire

Kety,

There seems to be a problem with your iPhoto. Did you get it with the computer, or did you buy the CD with iLife on it?

Do you have an iLife CD? If yes, put it in the computer and then, at the nearly last step. click Custom Install. Uncheck all except for iPhoto. Then install it.

I don't have an iLife CD. But it seems you are saying my version is probably not working correctly.

I guess it would be wise to buy the iLife package or would it be better to buy the OSX.4 operating system? Does it come with the iLife stuff. Is there going to be an OX5 version coming soon?

No, I think iLife is working very well, only iPhoto has problems. Thats why I asked if you had the CDs. So you could just re-install iPhoto.

About Mac OS 10.4 Tiger:
It comes bundled with iLife, so you dont need to buy it extra, for more info look at www.apple.com/macosx
About Mac OS 10.5 Leopard:
They are working on it. The preview for developers will already be availabe in August, so retail Leopard will be availabe maybe end of 2006/beginning of 2007.

If you receive this twice my apologies but I don't think my first mail went through correctly

Thanks for your infor

I am thinking that it might be a good idea to buy the Tiger version.
I have two macs. An imac Graphite version and an Imac Tangerine version.

Somebody mentioned that I probably would not be able to run I photo 6 even on my graphite model but I am not sure of that.

I looked at the Tech specs on the web site you gave me above, however, I could find no mention of it coming bundled with ilife. I could see itunes 4.7.1 listed but no mention of iphoto

Am I missing something?

Kety,

Even if it doesnt mention it, believe me iLife comes with iPhoto, iTunes, GarageBand, iMovie, iDVD and iWeb. I myself bought Tiger about two months ago and it was there. Its also included on all new Macs.
