i recently was given a cd to install garage band. in order to install it, i ended up updating everything else on the iLife cd. my iPhoto updated, but now it "recovered" like 500 photos (duplicates, in many cases) and added them to my photo library, and all my photos seem to be in semi-random order! i think it was only version 4. if i update again to a newer version will this solve the problem? if not, is there any way to un-update? i just want to get my original photo library back!
thanks!

Hey Arwen...
Unfortunately, unless you have been doing backups of your machine and you can restore the iPhoto directory in your Library folder, as well as the iPhoto application, you can't go back.
I like Retrospect Backup, since it keeps "snapshots" of your system and you can go back to any date you want.
Why your photos are in a semi-random order is strange, unless the sort is slightly different... it's supposed to sort by date pretty much.
As for the duplicates, I'm thinking maybe you made changes to your photos (get rid of red-eye, etc) and when iPhoto upgraded, it restored the originals as well as the updated versions, thinking they were two seperate photos.
