I use iPhoto to down load pictures from my camera. Lately, I have lost the "source" list at the side bar of my photo screen. Because of this, I can not trash extra photos. I have tried clicking on the little dot at the edge and I have gone through all of the "preference" listings I can think of. I need a way to bring back this icon bar at the left side of my photos. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try deleting the preference file for iPhoto.
It is located in \users\\library\preferences\com.apple.iPhoto.plist
This should fix your problem.

I tried to open this site under Google and without Google and it didn't seem to open. I did it using your exact address and also putting my username in the space instead of "username". How do I do this?

That was not a site I gave but a path on your harddrive.
Open up finder, goto your primary hard drive and navigate to the path above then delete the file com.apple.iPhoto.plist.
If you have problems finding and deleteing the file this way try using Spotlight and searching for the file then deleteing it.
After you have put this file in trash make sure you emtpy your trash.
